Gunpowder Sliders on the Blackstone

Seasoned with Ranch & Rifle’s Gunpowder and Smashed to Perfection

Big flavor meets bite-sized form in this slider recipe that puts our signature Gunpowder seasoning front and center. With its bold SPG blend and a kiss of smoke, it’s all you need to transform simple beef into something special. We smash 2–3 oz patties right on the hot griddle, flip once, and finish with melty American cheese — all tucked into soft, toasted Hawaiian rolls soaked up with burger juices.

Ingredients

  • 1½–2 lbs ground beef (80/20)

  • 1½ tbsp Ranch & Rifle Gunpowder seasoning

  • 12-count pack Hawaiian rolls

  • 6 slices American cheese, halved

  • Optional: pickles, ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, etc.

Instructions

1. Prep the Blackstone
Preheat your Blackstone griddle over medium-high heat. Allow it to heat thoroughly — you want that surface hot enough to sear (around 400–450°F).

2. Portion the Patties
Divide your ground beef into 2–3 oz balls (roughly the size of a golf ball). Keep them cold until ready to cook.

3. Sear & Smash
Place the beef balls on the hot griddle, spacing them a few inches apart. Immediately season the tops with Gunpowder. Using a burger press or heavy spatula, smash each one flat — about ¼-inch thick.

4. Flip & Cheese
Cook for about 1½–2 minutes, then flip once the edges are browned and crispy. Add half a slice of American cheese to each patty. Cook another 1–2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and patties are cooked through.

5. Toast the Rolls
While the sliders finish, slice your Hawaiian rolls in half, and place the cut side down directly onto the griddle — ideally right in the burger drippings. Toast until golden and slightly crisp, about 30–45 seconds.

6. Assemble
Place each patty on a bottom bun, stack any toppings you like, and close it up with the top bun. Serve immediately.

Why It Works

The Gunpowder seasoning builds a salty, savory crust on the smashed patties while the fat from the burgers toasts the Hawaiian rolls into buttery perfection. American cheese keeps it classic and nostalgic, making these sliders irresistible straight off the griddle.
