C.S.H. + Hot Honey Wings
Grilled Over Charcoal, Finished with Sweet Heat
There’s something special about fire-roasted wings that pack flavor in layers—and this recipe brings just that. We start with a bold coat of Ranch & Rifle’s C.S.H. rub (Chipotle, Soy, and Honey), then finish the wings off with a light dusting of Hot Honey to brighten and sweeten that final bite.
Cooked over charcoal, these wings hit every note: smoke, heat, umami, and a little sticky sweetness.
Ingredients
2–3 lbs chicken wings, separated into flats and drums
1½ tbsp Ranch & Rifle’s C.S.H. seasoning
1 tbsp olive oil
1–2 tsp Ranch & Rifle’s Hot Honey rub, for finishing
Optional: lemon or lime wedges for serving
Equipment
Charcoal grill (or smoker set up for direct heat)
Tongs, paper towels, small mixing bowl
Instructions
1. Prep the Grill
Light your charcoal grill and set it for two-zone cooking (hot and cool sides). Let the fire get to a steady 375–400°F, and ensure you’ve got a nice even coal bed.
2. Season the Wings
Pat the wings dry with paper towels and toss them in olive oil and C.S.H. seasoning. Mix until evenly coated and let rest for about 15 minutes while the grill comes to temp.
3. Grill the Wings
Place the wings on the cool side of the grill with the lid closed. Cook for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Then move the wings to the direct heat side and cook for another 5–7 minutes, flipping and rotating frequently until the skin is crispy and blistered, with charred edges and a deep golden color.
4. Finish with Hot Honey Rub
Pull the wings off the grill and immediately dust with Ranch & Rifle’s Hot Honey rub while they’re still hot. Toss lightly to coat and let them rest for 2–3 minutes.
5. Serve
Plate and serve immediately with a squeeze of citrus, if desired—or just dig in and enjoy them as-is.
Why It Works
The C.S.H. rub lays down a base of smoky soy and chipotle heat, while the Hot Honey rub brings a final punch of sweet heat that makes these wings pop. It’s a one-two combo that works perfectly on the grill, especially with the kiss of charcoal smoke.
